Men's Rules
USCA Rules
WCF Rules
Please note that the
World Curling Federation (WCF) rules have changed for the
2007-2008 season. The US Curling Association (USCA) has adopted these
rules changes effective June 13, 2007. Men's events are governed by
Grand National Curling Club (GNCC) rules, which are in turn based on
the
USCA rules, and therefore the WCF rulebook. A summary of the most
important WCF rules changes are as follows:
-
A courtesy line 6 inches in length...[will be] placed 4 feet outside
and parallel to the hog lines on each side of the rink. Non-delivering
team...players [must] take stationary positions along the sidelines
between the courtesy lines. (i.e., players may no longer stand close
to the hog lines when the other team is delivering)
-
Stones...[must be] individually identified by visible markings. Teams
are not to make alterations to, not place any object on or over their
game stones. (i.e., it will be illegal to put identifying bands on
rock handles)
-
The sweeping motion...need not cover the entire width of the stone.
(Corner sweeping is now legal!)
-
Inside the hog lines at the playing end, if a moving stone is
touched...by the team to which it belongs...all stones are allowed to
come to rest. (It is illegal under any circumstance to pull a touched
running stone inside the far hog line. Play must be allowed to
continue before the non-offending skip adjudicates the infraction.)
-
The use of the delivery stick shall be restricted as follows: the
stone must be clearly released from the delivery stick before either
foot of the player delivering the stone has reached the tee line at
the delivering end. (This rule was not approved by the
GNCC, USCA, or the CCA and will not be
enforced in Utica Curling Club play, GNCC- or USCA-sponsored, or Canadian events.)
